Can the Dell XPS 15 9570 Support 64GB of RAM?
According to Intel's website, the Intel® Core™ i7-8750H Processor, which is used in Dell's XPS 15 9570 laptop, supports up to 64GB of RAM. However, Dell's documentation for the XPS 15 9570 states that it supports a maximum of only 32GB of total memory. It’s unclear why Dell documented this limit at 32GB; in my opinion, this seems to be an oversight.
Users on Reddit have mentioned that the XPS 15 can be particular about memory compatibility, and I can confirm this from my experience. I initially bought a Corsair Vengeance SODIMM DDR4 3200 CL22 64GB (CMSX64GX4M2A3200C22) kit, but it didn’t work. When I installed the memory, the laptop's power light blinked, indicating that no memory was detected. Apparently, this memory couldn’t clock down to the required 2666 MHz, so I had to return it.
I then decided to try a different version from the same brand, with a more compatible clock speed. I purchased the Corsair Vengeance SODIMM DDR4 2666 CL18 64GB (CMSX64GX4M2A2666C18), and it worked perfectly.
You can find this memory on Amazon.
